Westpark is currently seeking a Project Coordinator to assist a Project Manager with various ongoing projects. Project types include various instrial electrical construction jobs. Experience with similar types of construction is an asset.

Job Description

Project Coordinator

Reporting to the Vice President - Operations, this key team member will be responsible for technical office support associated with the projects undertaken by the company. Working in a fast paced environment, the project coordinator will play a key role in the non-field related activities of the company. 

It is important to note that field staff works flexible schedules, and may require support at irregular hours. 

The project coordinator will be based in our Chilliwack office.  It is possible that some time may be spent at field offices.

Duties:

  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and engineers.
  • Keep track of time for field staff, and ensure timecards reach HO on time.
  • Liaise with HO staff on payroll and payables
  • General office duties, including filling and data entry
  • Ensure field staff can comply with company safety policy
  • Ensure field staff can comply with other work related regulatory requirements
  • Attend project meetings, as required
  • Prepare design drawings and shop drawings
  • Coordinate shop drawings
  • Negotiate and prepare subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Negotiate major material purchases
  • Procure and expedite project materials
  • Prepare and update schedules
  • Track, price and prepare progress estimates
  • Track, price and prepare extra work billings
  • Track project costing
  • Develop and maintain cost records for estimating purposes
  • Material and labour takeoffs for project estimates and extra work
  • Assist with recruiting field staff
  • Assist with field staff travel and accommodation needs

Skills required:

  • General knowledge of the Company’s business
  • Estimating skills
  • Knowledge of electrical materials and practices
  • Computer skills, including MS office, Project and Autocad
  • COR safety courses
  • Class 5 DL
  • Ability to travel to job sites
