Soo River Hydroelectric Project
The scope of work involved the construction of a new 14MW "run of river" hydroelectric project north of Whistler, BC. Specific items included construction of an intake and diversion weir, a 1000m long tunnel, a 2m diameter penstock, a powerhouse with two Francis Turbines, a 25kV substation and 3 km of 25kV transmission line. Extensive earthworks, heavy dewatering, winter river diversions and two seasons of instream work were integral to the construction. On-site batching of concrete was required.
